Electricity sales in August driven by consumption in north and northeast Brazil
Energisa Group's consolidated captive and free electricity consumption (2,490.3 GWh) rose 2.7% in August 2018, propelled by electricity sales in north and northeast Brazil. If uninvoiced sales are included, the consolidated consumption changes to 2,537.5 GWh, an increase of 4.9% in the same period. The highest increases in free and captive consumption were recorded in the concession areas of ETO (+6.8%), EBO (+6.2%), EPB (+5.3%) and ESE (+4.2%).
Consumption in the first eight months of 2018, Energisa Group's captive and free electricity consumption (20,066.5 GWh) rose in the first eight months of 2018 by 3.3% over the same period last year. If uninvoiced sales are included, the volume changes to 19,943.1 GWh, an increase of 3.4%. Free-market consumption (TUSD) rose by 11.8%. Captive consumption (16,567.9 GWh) rose by 1.7% in the first eight months of 2018. Captive plus free energy consumption in the period rose significantly at the distribution companies: EMS (+5.4%), ETO (+4.6%), ESS (+4.1%) and EMT (+3.0%).
